Munoz, Wernsing Claim NECC Softball Weekly Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass.- Junior Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) and freshman Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College softball team earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, announced the league office Monday.

Munoz spun a pair of complete games on the week and posted a 2-0 record in the pitcher's circle. She tossed seven innings and fanned four batters in the Lions' 4-3 win over Simmons. Munoz pitched seven innings and recorded two strikeouts as Eastern Nazarene edged Mitchell 9-8. She also chipped in with three hits, one RBI, and one run scored on the week.

Wernsing posted four base hits, two runs scored, and one RBI in a 2-2 week for the Lions.

Eastern Nazarene boasts a 9-11 overall record with a 3-1 mark in NECC competition. The Lions travel to Regis April 4 for a non-league twinbill.
