Softball Suffers Two Setbacks at Brandeis

WALTHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team fell to Brandeis 8-0 and 10-1 Tuesday afternoon on the road.

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 0, Brandeis 8
Records: Lions (4-7) | Judges (4-1)


HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Brandeis produced three runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim a 3-0 lead.
• The Judges tacked on a run in the third to widen the margin to 4-0.
• The home team scored twice in the fourth inning to extend its advantage to 6-0.
• Brandeis chalked up two runs in the bottom of the sixth to lock up its third-straight win.
  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho), and Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) all notched one hit.
• Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) tossed 5.2 innings and recorded one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Eastern Nazarene tallied one run in the top of the first inning to snag a 1-0 edge. Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) roped a one-out single to drive in Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) from third base.
• Brandeis manufactured five runs in the home half of the first to capture a 5-1 lead.
• The Judges plated four runs in the second inning to stretch their advantage to 9-1.
• The hosts added one run in the bottom of the third to widen the gap to 10-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) posted one hit and one RBI.
• Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) collected one base knock while Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) added a run scored.
• Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) landed a pair of base hits and drove in one RBI.
• Morgan Bruner (Litchfield, N.H.) threw 1.2 innings and registered one strikeout in her third start of the season. Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) worked 2.1 innings and fanned two batters in her first relief appearance of the spring.
