Jennelle Munoz Named NECC Co-Pitcher of the Year; Softball Garners Four All-NECC Selections
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sophomore Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) headlined the Eastern Nazarene College softball team's four All-New England Collegiate Conference honorees, earning her second-straight NECC Pitcher of the Year award. Aurora Adams (Fullerton, Calif.), Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.), and Kiley Ozaki (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) joined Munoz on the All-NECC Team while Chelsea De Martini (Budd Lake, N.J.) claimed a spot on the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team, announced the league office Thursday.
Munoz has started 26 games in the pitcher's circle and made seven relief appearances. She has tossed 24 complete games while compiling a 14-12 record with one save. In 189.2 innings pitched, Munoz has racked up 102 strikeouts. In conference play, she posted an 8-2 record with nine complete games and 36 strikeouts to go with a 1.61 ERA.
Adams leads the Lions with a .446 batting average, 58 base hits, and 32 RBIs. She has appeared in all 40 contests this season and has scored 26 runs while swiping three bases. Adams collected 18 hits in league action while driving in 12 RBIs and hitting .529 from the plate.
Brandt is batting .421 on the year and paces the squad with six home runs. She has notched 51 hits, 32 runs scored, 25 RBIs, and four stolen bases. Brandt leads the team with a .493 on-base percentage and a .702 slugging percentage. In conference games, she tallied 10 hits and scored six runs to go with a .303 batting average.
Ozaki has posted 42 base knocks, driven in 30 RBIs, and crossed the dish 17 times this season. She sports a batting average of .347 to go with a .391 on-base percentage. Ozaki paced Eastern Nazarene with 13 RBIs in league play while landing 15 hits and batting .385.
De Martini has seen action in 18 games this spring, including 12 pitching appearances. In nine starts in the circle, she has thrown six complete games while registering 13 strikeouts. Offensively, De Martini has chipped in with five hits and three RBIs.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 20-20 overall record and clinched the No. 1 seed in the NECC Tournament with an 8-4 league mark. The top-seeded Lions will face No. 4 seed New England College in the opening tilt of the NECC Tournament Friday.
