Softball Blanked by Muskingum Thursday Night, 8-0
CLERMONT, Fla.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team absorbed an 8-0 loss to Muskingum Thursday night at the PFX Spring Games.
The Lions move to 2-6 on the season with the setback while the Fighting Muskies improve to 6-0 overall.
Aurora Adams (Fullerton, Calif.), Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.), and Kiley Ozaki (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) all registered one hit on the evening.
Muskingum snagged a 1-0 edge with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Katie Osburn laced a one-out single up the middle to plate Taylor Gallentine from second base.
The Fighting Muskies tacked on four runs in the second to widen the gap to 5-0. Osburn landed a base knock to drive in Mickayla Malone and Gallentine. Haley Hawk followed with a two-run single to score Cristianna Boggs and Osburn.
Muskingum added a run in the third to push its advantage to 6-0. Megan Alspaugh scampered home on a sacrifice bunt by Claire Warschauer.
The Fighting Muskies chalked up a run in the home half of the fourth to extend their lead to 7-0. Boggs roped a double to knock in Madison Johnson from second base.
Muskingum tallied a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to clinch its sixth-straight victory. Johnson crossed the dish on an RBI groundout by Hawk.
Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) spun her fifth complete game in her seventh start in the pitcher's circle and recorded one strikeout.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene caps off its trip to Florida with contests against Arcadia and Penn State-Altoona March 11.
