Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Elms in Season-Opener
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team collected a 3-0 victory over Elms Thursday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center in the first match of the 2024 campaign. The win marks head coach Andy Mather's first victory at the helm of the Lions.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions seized the first frame 25-17 to establish a 1-0 lead in the match.
- Eastern Nazarene battled back from a 24-21 deficit to level the second set at 24-24. After Elms grabbed a 28-27 edge, the home side rattled off three consecutive points to claim the set 30-28. Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, P.R.) capped off the second frame with a kill and a solo block.
- The Lions rolled to a 25-16 decision in the third set to earn their first win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, P.R.) notched a match-high 16 kills and three aces.
- Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with 12 kills and four digs.
- Christopher Gil (Lawrence, Mass.) dished out 19 assists to go with five digs.
- Jacob Zarges (Quincy, Mass.) posted 12 assists, nine digs, and five kills on the night.
- Pedro De Jesus led Elms with eight kills and seven digs while Collin Liedke registered 19 assists.
