PATCHOGUE, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team absorbed a 3-0 loss at St. Joseph's (L.I.) Friday evening in the first-ever clash between the two teams.
The Lions slide to 0-2 on the season with the setback while the Golden Eagles improve to 2-1 overall with the win.
Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tallied a team-high nine kills in the contest. Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) finished with seven kills and three digs. Aaron Huang (Quincy, Mass.) registered 10 assists and six digs while Fernando Paredes (Passaic, N.J.) collected a match-best seven digs.
The home side captured the first set 25-15 to establish a 1-0 edge in the match.
St. Joseph's extended its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-17 decision in the second frame.
The Golden Eagles wrapped up their second-victory of the season after triumphing 25-12 in the third.
Quinn Foglia paced the hosts with nine kills while Mark Williams chipped in with seven kills and Clint Johnson posted 24 assists.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene heads to Manhattan January 22 to face Elms and John Jay.
