Men’s Volleyball Falls to Emmanuel in Season-Opener, 3-1
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Emmanuel Wednesday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center in the first match of the 2022 campaign.
The Lions slip to 0-1 on the year with the setback while the Saints improve to 2-0 overall.
Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) notched a team-high 12 kills and added eight digs. Matthew Mucha (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) posted a double-double with 10 digs and 10 kills. Nick Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) finished with eight kills and five total blocks. Aaron Huang (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 21 assists and Christopher Gil (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in with 12 assists on the night.
The visitors eked out a 34-32 hard-fought opening set to establish a 1-0 edge.
Emmanuel stretched its advantage to 2-0 with a narrow 25-23 win in the second frame.
Eastern Nazarene prevailed 25-19 in the third to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Saints cemented their second-straight victory with a 25-21 decision in the fourth set.
Joshua McDonald paced the Saints with 18 kills and seven blocks. Jyles Amirault registered 15 kills and 11 digs while Roman Fabrizio recorded 46 assists.
