
Men’s Volleyball’s Alejandro Garcia Fernandez Named NECC Rookie of the Year, Tim Eddings Earns All-NECC Second Team Honors
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Freshman Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and senior Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team garnered All-New England Collegiate Conference accolades, announced the league office Tuesday.
Garcia Fernandez was tabbed the NECC Rookie of the Year and claimed All-NECC first team honors while Eddings collected All-NECC second team laurels. Sophomore Brandon Brown (Oxford, Pa.) was also named to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team.
A three-time NECC Rookie of the Week, Garcia Fernandez becomes the first player in program history to receive the NECC Rookie of the Year award. Eddings and Garcia Fernandez join Kenny Sorensen '18 as the only all-conference selections in the program's short history.
This season, Garcia Fernandez paces the league with 109 kills and 18 total blocks while ranking fourth with 17 service aces. He notched 64 kills, 34 digs, 10 blocks, and 13 aces in conference play this spring.
Eddings racked up a team-best 71 digs and ranked second on the squad with 71 kills on the year. In league action, he posted 53 kills and 35 digs.
The Lions sport a 5-5 overall record and finished the conference slate with a 4-2 mark to clinch the No. 3 seed in the NECC Tournament. Eastern Nazarene will travel to second-seeded Elms April 7 for a semifinal showdown.
