Men’s Volleyball Tops Northern Vermont-Johnson Twice Saturday

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team posted a pair of 3-0 victories over Northern Vermont-Johnson Saturday afternoon at the Lahue Athletic Center.

The Lions improve to 5-3 on the season and 4-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the wins. The Badgers dip to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in league action with the results.

Alejandro Garcia Fernandez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) notched 13 kills, 11 digs, and five aces on the day. Nicholas Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) finished with nine kills and three aces. Leonel Caceres (Newington, Conn.) collected 10 assists, eight digs, seven kills, and four aces. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) tallied six kills and 13 digs while Chris Jaskiewicz (Oakdale, Conn.) and Ian Pacheco (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) each chipped in with six kills.

In the first match of the day, Eastern Nazarene cruised to a 3-0 victory to collect its fourth conference win of the season.

The Lions claimed the opening set 25-16 to seize a 1-0 edge.

The home team doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a 25-20 decision in the second frame.

Eastern Nazarene rolled to a 25-17 victory in the third set to secure the win.

The Lions wrapped up the afternoon with their third-consecutive 3-0 victory over the Badgers.

The hosts edged the visitors 25-22 in the first set to grab a 1-0 lead.

Eastern Nazarene posted a 25-18 win in the second frame to push its advantage to 2-0.

The Lions rallied to capture the third set 26-24 to cap off the sweep.

Ryan Willette paced Northern Vermont-Johnson with 10 kills to go with 12 digs while Dominic Phelps registered 12 digs and eight kills. Wyatt Moberg racked up 26 digs and Jason Madrid added 35 assists and four aces.

Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Lasell March 31 in a non-conference doubleheader.
