Men’s Volleyball Earns 3-1 Victory Over Emerson Thursday
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team picked up its first-ever win over Emerson Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center, prevailing 3-1 to extend its winning-streak to five games in a row.
The Eastern Nazarene Lions climb to 8-3 on the year with the victory while the Emerson Lions dip to 2-3 overall.
Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) and Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) each posted double-doubles in the match to lead the squad. Soler registered 22 kills and 14 digs while Eddings tallied 15 kills and 16 digs. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 39 assists and collected nine digs. Riley Miller (Newington, Conn.) recorded a career-high 18 digs and Quinn Smith (Galway, N.Y.) chipped in with 11 digs on the night.
The home team captured a 1-0 edge with a 25-21 win in the opening set.
Eastern Nazarene notched a 25-18 victory in the second frame to double its advantage to 2-0.
Emerson prevailed 25-23 in a closely-contested third set to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The host Lions closed out the fourth with an 8-1 run to lock up their fifth-consecutive win with a 25-21 decision in the frame.
Samuel Willinger paced the visitors with 14 kills and 12 digs while Lucas Raagas finished with 33 assists and 13 digs.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host nationally-ranked Wentworth February 12.
