Men’s Volleyball Edges Regis in Five Sets
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team topped Regis 3-2 Thursday evening in a thrilling match at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions improve to 4-3 on the season with the win while the Pride falls to 0-3 overall.
Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) posted a match-high 14 kills and added nine digs with three solo blocks while Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) also notched 14 kills on the night. Nicholas Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) tallied a career-best 10 kills, dealt three aces, and collected four total blocks. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) finished with 33 assists and Quinn Smith (Galway, N.Y.) recorded 12 digs.
The hosts closed out the first set with a 6-1 run to claim the game 25-23 to establish a 1-0 advantage.
Eastern Nazarene rattled off the final five points to earn a 25-22 win in the second set and widen the margin to 2-0.
The visitors battled back to seize the third 25-22 to cut the deficit to 2-1 before leveling the match with a 25-21 decision in the fourth set.
The Lions responded with a 15-11 victory in the deciding fifth set to clinch their fourth win of the year.
Josh Nolen paced the Pride with 13 kills while Inelson Alves posted 11 kills and Brendan Lam registered 42 assists.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host a non-conference tri-match with Northern Vermont-Johnson and Mount Saint Vincent February 1.
