Men’s Volleyball Opens Season with 3-0 Win at St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Friday evening in the first match of the 2020 campaign.
The Lions start the season at 1-0 overall with the win while the Bears move to 0-1 on the year.
Rookie Delfy Soler (Lawrence, Mass.) racked up a match-best 20 kills while adding five digs and a pair of service aces. Tim Eddings (Endicott, N.Y.) posted nine kills and a team-high eight digs. Freshman Nicholas Thibeau (Spencerport, N.Y.) finished with five kills and three total blocks. Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) dished out 37 assists on the night, collected four kills, and tallied six digs.
The visitors cruised to a 25-8 victory in the opening set to establish a 1-0 lead in the match.
Eastern Nazarene widened the margin to 2-0 with a 25-20 decision in the second frame.
The Lions edged the home side 27-25 in the third game to lock up its first win of the season.
Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy paced St. Joseph's-Brooklyn with six kills and four blocks while Israel Bautista registered eight assists and seven digs.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will wrap up its trip to the "Big Apple" January 18 with a tri-match at John Jay. The Lions will face the host Bloodhounds at noon before battling nationally-ranked Rivier.
