Kenny Sorensen Earns All-NECC First Team Accolades; Andrew Shaw Named to All-NECC Sportsmanship Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass.- Senior Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team has been selected to the All-New England Collegiate Conference first team while senior Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.) garnered a spot on the All-NECC Sportsmanship Team, announced the league office Monday.
Sorensen paced the conference with 232 digs on the year and ranks first in NCAA Division III with 11.75 attacks per set while also ranking fourth nationally with 4.25 kills per set.
Sorensen has racked up 357 kills, 32 service aces, 12 blocks, and nine assists on the year. He has started all 26 matches and has seen action in 84 of the Lions 85 sets played this season.
A three-time NECC Player of the Week, Sorensen became the first player in program history to earn AVCA National Player of the Week honors earlier this season.
Sorensen was also tabbed to the NECC All-Tournament Team this season.
He has amassed 582 career kills, 435 career digs, and 71 career aces in his two years with the program.
Shaw has appeared in all 26 matches this year and has collected 120 digs, 22 kills, nine assists, and six aces.
Eastern Nazarene finished with a 14-12 overall record and a 7-5 mark in NECC matches. The Lions grabbed the No. 3 seed in the NECC Tournament and fell to second-seeded Elms in the semifinals.
