Men’s Volleyball Storms Past Dean 3-0
FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's volleyball team defeated Dean 3-0 Tuesday evening in the final conference tilt of the regular season.
The Lions improve to 13-11 on the year and 7-5 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Bulldogs move to 14-9 overall and 7-4 in league play with the result.
Kenny Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.) posted a double-double with a 16 kills and 14 digs to lead the team. James Hoopes (Lenexa, Kan.) racked up 13 kills while Samuel Cueva (Swampscott, Mass.) added four kills. Matthew Tyree (Lansdale, Pa.) dished out 26 assists and collected six digs. Andrew Shaw (Weymouth, Mass.) finished with 10 digs while Brandon Jenkins (Norton, Mass.) chipped in with seven digs.
The visitors raced out to a 1-0 advantage after capturing the first frame 25-19.
Eastern Nazarene outlasted Dean in the second set 34-32 to extend its lead to 2-0.
The Lions triumphed 25-20 in the third to claim the straight-sets victory.
Diondre Gomes paced the home side with 17 kills while Joel Carmona registered 13 kills and 11 digs on the night.
