
Semenov Named GNAC Player & Rookie of the Year; Men’s Tennis Collects Four All-GNAC Honors
WINTHROP, Mass.- Freshman Dmitrii Semenov (Kaliningrad, Russia) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team has been tabbed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year while the Lions collected four All-GNAC nods, as the league office announced its end-of-season awards.
Daniel Gonzalez (Armenia, Colombia), Franco Milivinti (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and Semenov garnered All-GNAC singles honors. The doubles tandem of Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) and Semenov earned the lone All-GNAC doubles accolade. Iker Rodriguez (Naucalpan, Mexico) represented Eastern Nazarene on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Semenov posted a 12-6 record in singles action, including an 11-4 mark at the No.1 singles position. He also owned a 3-0 record in league matches.
Gonzalez compiled a 10-7 singles record this season with a 4-0 mark in conference action.
Milivinti sported a 10-11 record in singles matches this year with a 3-1 mark in GNAC play.
Gallardo and Semenov combined for a 12-6 record in doubles action, playing primarily at the top doubles spot. The duo boasted a 3-0 record in league competition this spring.
Rodriguez went 12-4 in singles matches this season, including a victory at NCAA Division I Boston College. He picked up three singles wins in conference action and held a 10-1 record at the No. 5 singles play on the year.
Eastern Nazarene finished the season with a 15-8 overall record and stormed through the regular season with an unblemished 4-0 mark in conference competition. The Lions defeated Colby-Sawyer 5-1 to clinch their fourth-consecutive GNAC title.
This season, Eastern Nazarene owned a 15-4 record against NCAA Division III opponents while also competing against three NCAA Division I teams and one NCAA Division II squad.
