Men’s Tennis Sweep GNAC Weekly Honors
WINTHROP, Mass.- Sophomore Iker Rodriguez (Naucalpan, Mexico) and freshman Dmitrii Semenov (Kaliningrad, Russia) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team have been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced the league office Monday.
Rodriguez posted a pair of straight-set victories in singles play, dropping just four games. He notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 3 singles position in the Lions' 9-0 victory over Vermont State Johnson. Rodriguez claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles spot as Eastern Nazarene topped Baruch 7-2.
This season, Rodriguez owns a 5-3 record in singles action and is riding a five-match winning-streak.
Semenov earned two wins at the top singles position and partnered with Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) two victories at the No. 1 doubles spot on the week. This spring, he boasts a 6-5 mark in singles play and a 5-7 record in doubles action.
Eastern Nazarene sports a 6-6 overall record to go with a 1-0 mark in GNAC competition. The Lions return to the courts March 27 to take on Curry before hosting Norwich in a league match March 30.
