Diego Rodriguez Voted GNAC Player of the Year, Men’s Tennis Earns Four All-GNAC Selections
WINTHROP, Mass.- Senior Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Year, as the league office announced its end-of-season awards.
Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela), Franco Milivinti (Buenos Aires, Argentina), and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) garnered All-GNAC honors in singles. The doubles pair of Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) were one of two tandems to capture All-GNAC accolades. Senior Avelino Parrondo (Madrid, Spain) was selected to the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Rodriguez sported a 4-8 mark in singles action this season with a 2-0 record in conference matches, playing primarily at the top singles position.
Milivinti notched an 8-3 record in singles play this spring and went 2-0 in league competition.
Sanchez finished the year with a 4-11 mark in singles matches and registered a 2-0 record in GNAC contests.
Rodriguez and Sanchez combined to post a 10-6 record in doubles action with a 3-0 mark in conference play.
Parrondo owned a 5-5 record in singles matches and a 7-4 mark in doubles competition this season.
Eastern Nazarene posted a 12-6 overall record in the 2022-23 campaign and finished the regular season with an unblemished 4-0 mark in league play. The Lions topped Colby-Sawyer 5-0 to clinch their third consecutive GNAC championship.
