
Men’s Tennis Sails Past Salem State, 9-0, Saturday
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win over Salem State Saturday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts in the first home match of the season.
The Lions climb to 2-0 on the year with the victory while the Vikings sink to 0-1 overall.
The hosts established a 3-0 advantage with three doubles wins.
Iago Alcover (Mallorca, Spain) and Baldo Karinja (Zadar, Croatia) clipped Roni Bazile and Peter Coletti at the top doubles spot 8-6.
Carlos Sanchez (Malaga, Spain) and Diego Rodriguez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) notched an 8-3 win at the No. 2 position over Cory Cherico and Andrew Muttiah.
Carlos Gallardo (Tulua, Colombia) and Carlos Gomez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) rolled past Johnson Ngandjui and Kevin Merino-Rivas 8-0 at the No. 3 slot.
Eastern Nazarene clinched its second-straight sweep with six singles victories.
Rodriguez picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 1 singles position over Muttiah while Alcover collected a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Coletti at the second spot.
Gomez downed Bazile 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 3 slot and Sanchez cruised past Cherico 6-1, 6-0 at the fourth position.
Gallardo and Karinja coasted to 6-0, 6-0 victories at the fifth and sixth singles spots, respectively.
