Eastern Nazarene prevailed in a pair of doubles matches to cling to a 2-1 lead at the start of singles play.
Austin Steelman (Darlington, Md.) and Nick Thompson (York, Pa.) triumphed at the top doubles position 8-4 to pick up their third-consecutive victory. Sam McKay-Corkum (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Tim Luz (Cumberland, R.I.) claimed an 8-6 win at the No. 2 slot. Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) and Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) dropped a narrow 9-7 decision at the third spot.
Catholic rallied in singles action to capture five wins en route to its second-straight victory.
McKay-Corkum tallied the Lions' lone point in singles play at the No. 2 position as his opponent retired due to injury.
Steelman was edged 6-4, 7-5 at the top slot by Catholic's Brian Bradley. Luz absorbed a 6-2, 6-1 loss at the No. 3 spot while Perron fell 6-4, 6-1 at the fourth singles match. Paterno suffered a 7-5, 6-2 setback at the fifth position and Thompson was upended 6-0, 6-1 at the sixth slot.
Eastern Nazarene will hit the courts twice on its final day of action March 7 in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Lions will battle Elizabethtown in the morning before closing out the trip with an evening match against Lebanon Valley.
