Men’s Soccer Earns Crucial 3-1 Victory at Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, N.Y.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team notched a key 3-1 win at Morrisville Sunday afternoon in the final regular season match.

Records: Lions (5-6-5, 3-1-2 NAC) | Mustangs (4-9-4, 3-2-1 NAC)


HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Eastern Nazarene grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) knocked in his third goal of the season as Dan Hill (Tewkesbury, England) picked up an assist.
  • The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the sixth minute. Dan Hill (Tewkesbury, England) netted his team-leading seventh tally of the year, burying a direct free-kick.
  • The visitors tacked on their third score of the contest in the 17th minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) bagged his fourth goal of the season and second of the match Grant Bennati (Tampa, Fla.) recorded his first collegiate assist.
  • Morrisville got on the board in the 64th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1. Josh Lawniczak volleyed in a corner kick served into the box by Kameron Paz.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Senior Erik Berg (Hadley, Mass.) finished with two saves in his seventh start between the pipes.
  • Eastern Nazarene managed five shots on the day while Morrisville mustered six attempts.
  • The Mustangs held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks earned in the game.
