Men’s Soccer Edged by Framingham State on Senior Night, 2-1

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to Framingham State Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium in the final regular-season home match.


THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 1, Framingham State 2
Records: Lions (4-6-5) | Rams (4-7-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Framingham State manufactured a goal in the eighth minute to capture a 1-0 edge. Karl Hemmingsen knocked in his first marker of the year while Gustav Hemmingsen collected an assist.
  • The Rams tacked on a score in the 18th minute to widen their lead to 2-0. Arthur Santos Da Silva bagged his second goal of the season as Kunphel Sinha and Matheus Rodrigues each recorded assists.
  • Eastern Nazarene found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to narrow the gap to 2-1. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) buried his second tally of the campaign while Julian Calvo (Escazu, Costa Rica) picked up his first collegiate assist.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Senior Erik Berg (Hadley, Mass.) made his sixth start in goal and finished with one save.
  • Eastern Nazarene produced 12 shots on the night while Framingham State attempted six.
  • The Lions earned seven corner kicks and the Rams drew two corners.
  • Wendy Bigor (Boston, Mass.), Dan Hill (Tewkesbury, England), David Torres Jimenez (Las Huesas, Spain), and Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) all paced the home team with two shots each.


SENIOR NIGHT CELEBRATION:
Prior to the start of the match, the Eastern Nazarene men's soccer program honored its seniors: Erik Berg, Jorge Gonzalez, Josiah Milord, Carlos Moya, Samuel Rosas, David Torres Jimenez, and Bryan Vargas.
