Men’s Soccer Earns 2-1 Road Win at Salve Regina

NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team collected a 2-1 win at Salve Regina Tuesday evening in non-league play. The Seahawks entered the game receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll while also ranked No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Salve Regina grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the 28th minute as Liam Berlingieri picked up his first tally of the year.
  • Eastern Nazarene answered with a score in the 36th minute to knot the contest at 1-1. Emilio Magdon (Mexico City, Mexico) notched his first goal of the season.
  • The Lions chalked up the go-ahead goal in the 69th minute. Nils Hesmer (Herren, Germany) curled in a left-footed shot to bag his first collegiate marker.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Senior goalkeeper Erik Berg (Hadley, Mass.) registered two saves in his fifth start of the year. Rookie Julius Blumenauer (Hennef, Germany) made one stop in 45 minutes of action in his second appearance.
  • Eastern Nazarene concluded the contest with six shots while Salve Regina generated 10 attempts.
  • Both squads finished with two corner kicks earned in the match.
