NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie at Mitchell Thursday afternoon.
The Lions progress to 11-6-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the result. The Mariners move to 0-11-4 overall and 0-2-3 in league competition with the decision.
The guests claimed a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. Senior Brock Pease (Marshfield, Mass.) pounced on a rebound and booted home his first collegiate goal after Leonardo Castro's (Katy, Texas) initial shot was saved.
Eastern Nazarene registered eight shots in the first frame while Mitchell attempted five.
The Mariners netted the game-tying goal in the 78th minute to pull even at 1-1. Mason Rubino collected his second marker of the fall while Bryan Ramos picked up the assist.
The visitors recorded 16 shots in regulation and the home side fired 15 shots.
Eastern Nazarene generated five shots in each of the overtime periods to conclude the contest with 26 attempts. Mitchell managed three shots in overtime to finish with 18 attempts on the day.
Senior netminder Tyler Ferreira (Berkley, Mass.) posted seven saves in his eighth start of the campaign.
