QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team cruised to a 4-0 victory over Lesley Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions climb to 9-5-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the win. The Lynx slide to 0-12-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league action with the result.
The hosts grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute as a cross from Sheelens Ostine (Quincy, Mass.) deflected off of a defender and into the net for an own goal.
Eastern Nazarene extended its advantage to 2-0 in the 44th minute. Carlos Moya (Oviedo, Spain) tallied his third goal of the campaign while Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil) chalked up his first assist of the season.
The Lions sported a 2-0 lead at the midway point of the match and commanded a 19-1 advantage in first-half shot attempts.
The home side tacked on its third score of the day in the 68th minute. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) buried his league-leading eighth marker of the season and Leonardo Castro (Katy, Texas) picked up his team-best fifth assist.
Eastern Nazarene widened the gap to 4-0 in the 75th minute. Guillermo Garcia (Leon, Spain) headed in his second tally of the fall after Denser Martinez (Cumberland, R.I.) curled in a right-footed cross.
The Lions racked up a season-best 34 shots on the afternoon while holding a 13-3 margin in corner kicks earned. The Lynx were limited to four shots in the contest.
Senior Tyler Ferreira (Berkley, Mass.) registered one save in his sixth start of the campaign. Rookie Mauricio Marun (Mexico City, Mexico) made his collegiate debut and finished with one save.
