MIDDLEBURY, Vt.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team endured a 2-0 loss at Middlebury Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions drop to 8-5-0 on the year with the result while the Panthers improve to 9-2-1 overall.
The hosts jumped ahead 1-0 in the ninth minute as Liam Sloan slotted in his first goal of the season off of a feed from Jordan Saint-Louis.
Eastern Nazarene chalked up 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes of action while Middlebury produced nine attempts.
The Panthers pushed their advantage to 2-0 in the 68th minute. Jonah Roberts netted his second marker of the campaign as Andrew Juarez provided the assist.
The Lions concluded the contest with 16 shots as Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) registered a team-high seven attempts and Sheelens Ostine (Quincy, Mass.) fired three shots. Middlebury generated 20 shot attempts on the afternoon and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks earned.
Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela) made six saves in his eighth start of the fall.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene resumes conference play October 16 against Lesley at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
