Men’s Soccer Sweeps NECC Weekly Awards

MANSFIELD, Mass.- Junior Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) and sophomore Leonardo Castro (Katy, Texas) of the Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team swept the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player and Rookie of the Week awards, announced the league office Monday.

The tandem powered the Lions to victories over Emerson, Castleton, and Elms.

Vargas tallied four goals on the week, netting a pair against Castleton before scoring twice against Elms.

Castro notched one goal and three assists on the week. He buried one goal against Castleton and dished out three assists against Elms.

This season, Vargas leads the league with five goals and 12 points while Castro ranks tied for second in the conference with three assists.

Eastern Nazarene sports a 6-4-0 overall record and returns to the pitch October 5 at Framingham State.
