NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team fell 2-0 at Salve Regina Saturday evening.
The Lions move to 3-2-0 on the year with the outcome while the Seahawks elevate to 2-3-0 overall.
The home team seized a 1-0 lead early in the match as Jacob Guerra slotted in his fourth goal of the season after finishing a feed from Alec Quiroz in the ninth minute.
Salve Regina doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 33rd minute. Sam Winiarski notched his second tally of the year as Nathan Costantino provided the helper.
Eastern Nazarene produced four shots in the first 45 minutes of play while the Seahawks fired five shots.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second stanza as Salve Regina picked up its second victory of the season.
The Lions concluded the contest with eight shots and three corner kicks earned. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) registered four shots while Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil) attempted three shots on the night.
The Seahawks finished with 12 shots and five corner kicks in the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela) chalked up four saves in his third start of the fall.
