BANGOR, Maine- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team endured its first setback of the season Tuesday evening, falling 2-1 in double-overtime at Husson in non-conference action.
The Lions dip to 3-1-0 on the season with the result while the Eagles climb to 2-0-1 overall.
In a scoreless first half, the guests managed four shots while the home side mustered three attempts.
Husson captured a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute as Mario Alvarez Salgado tallied his second goal of the year off of an assist by Jordi Cabau Limens.
Eastern Nazarene equalized in the 85th minute to knot the match at 1-1. Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil) drilled a left-footed shot past the Eagles' netminder to bag his first marker of the fall.
In the second overtime period, Husson manufactured the game-winning goal in the 103rd minute. Pedro Molina Sanchez headed in his first score of the season as Florian Gasser delivered a corner kick service into the box.
The Lions finished with 10 shots in the contest and four corner kicks earned. The Eagles fired 16 shots on the night and drew five corners.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Ferreira (Berkley, Mass.) recorded six saves in his second start of the year.
