NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team capped off the weekend with a 2-1 victory over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Sunday afternoon in the final match of the MCLA Classic.
The Lions remain undefeated at 3-0-0 on the year with the win while the Trailblazers move to 0-3-0 overall.
The visitors scored a pair of goals less than three minutes apart to establish a 2-0 advantage midway through the opening period.
Junior Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) notched his first goal of the fall with an unassisted strike in the 21st minute.
In the 23rd minute, rookie Diego Sanchez (Madrid, Spain) netted his first career marker to double the lead.
Both sides fired seven shots in the first half with the home team owning a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.
MCLA got on the board in the 52nd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Junior Florent tallied his first goal of the season as Conor Green picked up an assist.
Eastern Nazarene finished with 16 shots on the day while the Trailblazers registered 15.
Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela) made five stops between the posts in his second-straight start.
