LEICESTER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team posted a 3-0 victory on the road at Becker Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 1-1-0 on the year with the win while the Hawks sink to 0-2-1 overall.
The visitors benefitted from an own goal in the 25th minute to grab a 1-0 edge.
Eastern Nazarene doubled its lead to 2-0 with a tally in the 42nd minute. Jaimie Romero (Sanlucar de Barrameda, Spain) buried his first goal of the season as he fired a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the cage. Kirby Georgeon (Brockton, Mass.) and Didac Gomes Castellvi (Tarragona, Spain) each picked up assists on the game's second goal.
The Lions held a 2-0 advantage at the midway point of the match after outshooting the Hawks 8-1 in the first half.
The guests tacked on their third score of the contest in the 86th minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Bryan Vargas (San Jose, Costa Rica) netted his first goal of the year with a low, left-footed shot off of a pass by Leon Zaffonato (Canela, Brazil).
Eastern Nazarene finished with 19 shots on the day while limiting Becker to just three attempts.
Rookie goalkeeper Antonio Soto Valente (Maracaibo, Venezuela) registered one save between the pipes to record his first collegiate win.
