DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at Nichols Friday evening.
The Lions slide to 0-7-0 on the season and 0-3-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Bison improve to 6-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in league action with the win.
The home team got on the board in the 11th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Paul Sickinger headed in a cross from Jonathan Ingram to pick up his sixth goal of the year.
Nichols doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a score in the 29th minute. Ali Ali netted his second marker of the fall off of a cross delivered by Gregory Giglio.
Eastern Nazarene trailed 2-0 at the midway point of the match after attempting just four shots in the opening frame. The Bison produced 16 shots in the first 45 minutes of play.
The hosts tacked on a goal in the 86th minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Ethan Cayer notched his first tally of the season as Chris Noga provided the assist.
The Lions concluded the contest with six shots while Nichols fired 27 on the night.
Joao Costa (Framingham, Mass.) and Nabil Chamoun (Walpole, Mass.) both registered a pair of shots to pace the visitors.
Sophomore Victor Mendoza (Cathedral, Calif.) recorded nine saves in his third start of the season.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns home to battle Emerson October 2. The match will be the program's second annual "Night of Nets".
