
Ron Hamwey Named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene College Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Zarges has announced the hiring of Ron Hamwey as head men's lacrosse coach. Hamwey becomes the second head coach in program history.
"We are thrilled that Coach Hamwey has decided to join the ENC Athletic family. From the very beginning of the process, Ron displayed exceptional qualities that fit with the mission of Eastern Nazarene College and the vision within athletics. His commitment to Christ, plans to engage student-athletes for growth spiritually, academically, and athletically, and desire to be involved with all aspects of the department were impressive," stated Zarges. "Taking on the challenge of building the lacrosse program, one that is only entering its second year, is no small task. Nonetheless, we have no doubt that Coach Hamwey is up to the task and we will all be there to support him and the lacrosse student-athletes."
Hamwey spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts where he worked primarily with the Minutemen's faceoff specialists. Prior to his time with at UMass, he spent one year as an assistant coach at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hamwey has also had coaching stops at Nipmuc Regional High School, Algonquin Regional High School, and Becker College.

I would also like to thank Dr. Bill McCoy, Dr. Ian Slater, and the entire Athletic Department leadership team for their belief in me as someone who will live out the mission of the college day in and day out while helping our student-athletes grow athletically, academically, socially, and spiritually," commented Hamwey.
Hamwey played four years on the men's lacrosse team at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. With the Antelopes, he was a two-time Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association All-American and a three-time MCLA Scholar-Athlete. Hamwey was a member of Grand Canyon's MCLA National Champion squad in 2015.
He graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and completed a Master of Business Administration at Grand Canyon in 2016.
