Men’s Basketball Absorbs 71-61 Loss at Amherst
AMHERST, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team suffered a 71-61 setback at Amherst Thursday evening in the first-ever matchup between the two teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The home side strung together an 8-0 run to claim a 30-21 advantage with five minutes left to play in the first half.
- Amherst widened its lead to double-figures, 35-25, on a bucket by Bobby Sommers with 2:59 on the clock.
- Kobe Jones (Picayune, Miss.) splashed a three-pointer at the halftime horn to cut the Lions' deficit to 42-35.
- Eastern Nazarene pulled even at 45-45 with 17:11 remaining in regulation as Bernie McGuinness (Cumming, Ga.) drilled a trey.
- An 11-0 run gave the Mammoths a 58-47 advantage with 13:29 to go in the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Corey McGhee (Alexandria, Va.) poured in a season-best 19 points and dished out five assists.
- JaWaun Moore (Dayton, Ohio) netted 13 points and grabbed six boards.
- Levis White (Springfield, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds while Kobe Jones (Picayune, Miss.) scored 10 points in his first start of the year.
- Eastern Nazarene shot 37.1% from the floor and 32% from the three-point line on the night.
- Amherst finished with a field-goal percentage of 45.8% while connecting on 9-of-28 from beyond the arc.
- Chris Hammond paced the Mammoths with 18 points while Charlie Randall notched 13 points and six rebounds.
