Men’s Basketball Stifles Elms on Senior Night, 82-50
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team breezed by Elms 82-50 Thursday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center.
The Lions improve to 4-3 on the year with the victory while the Blazers slide to 0-2 overall.
Prior to tip-off, the Eastern Nazarene men's basketball program honored its three seniors: Luke Dagley (Weymouth, Mass.), David Lopez (Miami, Fla.), and Ozzy Traill III (Valley Stream, N.Y.).
Ka'Shaun Swan (Lawrenceville, Ga.) paced all scorers with 18 points off the bench. Luke Dagley (Weymouth, Mass.) tallied 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting from three-point range. Ozzy Traill III (Valley Stream, N.Y.) finished with 11 points and six assists. Corey McGhee (Alexandria, Va.) recorded nine points while David Lopez (Miami, Fla.) chipped in with 14 boards and six points on the night.
The home side closed out the first half with a 9-0 run to sport a 43-25 halftime advantage.
Eastern Nazarene posted a field-goal percentage of 50% in the opening frame while connecting on 7-of-17 three-point attempts. Elms shot 30% from the floor and 28.6% from behind the arc in the first period.
Swan poured in 11 points off the bench to lead the Lions while Dagley netted 10 points .Traill added nine points and four assists in the first half and Lopez hauled in a game-best 10 boards.
The Lions' largest lead of the night came with 9:14 remaining in the second stanza as Swan canned a corner three, 67-34.
The home side outscored the visitors 39-25 in the second half to lock up its fourth win of the season.
Eastern Nazarene shot 43.3% from the floor and drained 11-of-29 from the three-point line on the evening. Elms concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 29% to go with a 21.1% clip from downtown.
Tahquell Cadle scored a team-high 11 points for the Blazers while Klaytin Silva contributed 10 points off the bench.
