Men’s Basketball Flies Past Fisher, 101-61
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team broke into the win-column with a 101-61 victory over Fisher Tuesday evening at the Lahue Athletic Center.
The Lions rise to 1-2 on the season with the win while the Falcons flutter to 1-1 overall.
Will Zarges (Quincy, Mass.) poured in a career-high 13 points off the bench. Pat Taylor (Lakeland, Fla.) finished with a career-best 11 points, five assists, and four boards. Luke Dagley (Weymouth, Mass.), David Lopez (Miami, Fla.), and Ka'Shaun Swan (Lawrenceville, Ga.) all registered 10 points on the night.
The home team extended its advantage to 20 points with 1:36 left to play in the opening frame. Justin McMurry (Henderson, Tenn.) stretched to save the ball before it went out of bounds and slung a nifty no-look pass to Shawn Wright (Baltimore, Md.) under the hoop for an uncontested layup which pushed Eastern Nazarene's margin to 43-23.
The Lions controlled a 45-28 lead at the break after shooting 38.6% from the floor and 31.6% from behind the arc in the first half. Fisher posted a field-goal percentage of 25% in the opening stanza and connected on 3-of-17 from three-point territory.
Wright led all scorers with nine first-half points while Zarges and Lopez each tallied eight.
Eastern Nazarene's largest lead of the game came with 5:13 on the clock in the second half as Taylor tossed in a layup to widen the gap to 88-47.
The Lions concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 48.8% to go with an 8-for-29 effort from long distance. The Falcons shot 30% from the floor and 21.4% from beyond the arc on the evening.
Chris Lennear led Fisher with 15 points while Laddis Taylor notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
