Men’s Basketball Upended by Babson Sunday, 70-59
QUINCY, Mass.- In the first home game of the 2021 season, the Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team endured a 70-59 loss to Babson Sunday afternoon at the Lahue Athletic Center.
The Lions slide to 0-2 on the year with the result while the Beavers wrap up their season with an 8-2 overall record.
Ozzy Traill III (Valley Stream, N.Y.) led the home team with 11 points while Corey McGhee (Alexandria, Va.) poured in 10 points. David Lopez (Miami, Fla.) notched seven points and a game-best 10 rebounds. Ka'Shaun Swan (Lawrenceville, Ga.) tallied nine points and Josef Buford (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) netted eight points off the bench.
The visitors started the contest with a 12-3 run before pushing their lead to 22-5 with 11:36 left to play in the first frame.
The Beavers sported a 39-21 advantage at the midway point of the game.
Eastern Nazarene posted a field-goal percentage of 29.6% in the first half while connecting on 2-of-10 from behind the arc. Babson shot 44.4% from the floor and 33.3% from three-point territory in the opening 20 minutes of action.
Dagley paced the Lions with five first-half points while Traill added four points and Lopez grabbed seven rebounds.
The hosts pulled to within 10 points with 1:46 remaining in regulation, 66-56, as Traill went coast-to-coast for a layup.
The guests responded with four-straight points to secure their eighth victory of the year.
The Lions shot 38.6% from the floor and 29.2% from long distance on the afternoon. The Beavers concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 45.2% to go with 8-for-22 shooting from beyond the arc.
