
Men’s Basketball Falls to Endicott, 83-59
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's basketball team absorbed an 83-59 loss to Endicott Thursday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions drop to 6-10 on the year and 2-7 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Gulls improve to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in league action with the win.
Noah Cheney (Bend, Ore.) notched 10 points and five rebounds on the night while Brenndan Rogers (Hanson, Mass.) netted 10 points off the bench. Jacob Waldroop (Newland, N.C.) finished with eight points and four assists. Trey'von Davis (Moore, S.C.) recorded 10 boards and six points.
After a back-and-forth start to the contest, the visitors built up a double-digit lead with 12:45 left to play in the first half, 20-10.
The hosts cut the deficit to three on a layup by Rogers with 9:54 remaining in the opening period, 20-17.
Endicott widened the gap to 30-17 with 7:46 to go in the first frame as Griffin Curtis capped off a 10-0 run with a fast-break slam.
The Gulls extended their advantage to 16 with 1:17 left in the first period as Keith Brown drilled his third trey of the game, 40-24.
Eastern Nazarene trailed 40-29 at the halftime intermission and shot 29.4% from the floor in the first half and 40% from behind the three-point line. Endicott posted a field-goal percentage of 41.4% in the opening frame with 38.1% shooting from downtown.
The Gulls maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second stanza en route to collecting their 12th victory of the season.
The visitors' largest lead of the night came with 4:29 left to play as Jake Rudolph nailed a three-pointer, 78-49.
The Lions finished with a field-goal percentage of 33.3% to go with 34.6% from beyond the arc. The Gulls shot 46.8% from the floor and drained 17-of-40 from long distance in the game.
Brown led Endicott with 20 points while Nick Thibeault, Matt McDevitt, and Vinny Clifford all tallied 11 points.
