Baseball Triumphs at Hartford Sunday, 15-8

HARTFORD, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team hammered a season-high 19 hits en route to a 15-8 win at Hartford Sunday afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Eastern Nazarene tallied one run in the top of the first inning to seize an early 1-0 edge.
  • Hartford produced three runs in the bottom of the frame to grab a 3-1 advantage.
  • The Hawks tacked on two runs in the second to widen the margin to 5-1.
  • The Lions scored once in the third to cut the deficit to 5-2.
  • Hartford responded with a run in the bottom of the third inning to reclaim a four-run lead, 6-2.
  • Eastern Nazarene picked up one run in the fourth to trim the gap to 6-3.
  • The hosts manufactured two runs in the fifth inning to claim an 8-3 advantage.
  • The visitors answered with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to narrow the deficit to 8-5.
  • Eastern Nazarene leveled the contest at 8-8 with three runs in the seventh inning.
  • The Lions erupted for seven runs in the eighth to capture a 15-8 lead.

  • Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) finished with four hits, four RBIs, and one run scored.
  • Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) racked up three base knocks, three stolen bases, three runs scored, and two RBIs.
  • O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) recorded three RBIs, two hits and a run scored.
  • Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) chipped in with two base knocks, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
  • Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) tossed four innings and struck out five batters. Colby Rohr (Highland Village, Texas) worked one inning of relief and Liam Bruskewicz (Granite Springs, N.Y.) pitched four scoreless innings of relief.
