Baseball Posts 17-5 Victory Over SUNY Poly
WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team wrapped up the weekend series with a 17-5 win over SUNY Poly Saturday afternoon at Libby Field.
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 17, SUNY Poly 5

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SUNY Poly scored one run in the top of the first to snag an early 1-0 lead.
- Eastern Nazarene responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to seize a 4-1 advantage. Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) tagged up and scurried home from third base on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.). Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) roped a double to centerfield to drive in Eduardo Labour (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.). Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) followed with a double to knock in Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.).
- The Wildcats tallied a run in the second to cut the deficit to 4-2.
- The Lions produced three runs in the home half of the second inning to widen the gap to 7-2. Francis Ferguson laced a single to centerfield to score Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) and Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic). Eduardo Labour (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) followed with a base knock to plate Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.).
- Eastern Nazarene chalked up three runs in the third to stretch its lead to 10-2. Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) belted his first homer of the spring, a three-run blast to drive in Eliel Florentino (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic).
- SUNY Poly picked up two runs in the top of the fourth to trim the margin to 10-4.
- The hosts tacked on a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to push their advantage to 11-4. O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) lifted a sacrifice fly to plate Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) from third base.
- The Wildcats answered with a run in the fifth to narrow the deficit to 11-5.
- Eastern Nazarene manufactured six runs in the eighth to extend its lead to 17-5.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Elvis Rojas (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) racked up four hits, four RBIs, three runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases.
- Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) notched two hits, three RBIs, and three runs scored.
- Andiover Feliz (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) finished with three base knocks, two RBIs, and one run scored.
- Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) collected two hits, three runs scored, and one RBI while Brandon Mercado (Stoughton, Mass.) added two hits, two RBIs, and one run scored.
- Luke Descheneaux (Lowell, Mass.) tossed five innings in his first start of the season and recorded one strikeout. Paul Foster (North Billerica, Mass.) worked four scoreless innings of relief and fanned two batters.
