No. 2 Seed Baseball Falls to Top-Seed Mitchell in NECC Championship Series
NEW LONDON, Conn.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team suffered a 15-2 loss at Mitchell Sunday afternoon in the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament championship. The Mariners, ranked third in the most recent NCAA Regional Rankings, clinched their ninth all-time and third consecutive NECC title with the win.
THE BASICS:
Score: Eastern Nazarene 2, Mitchell 15

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mitchell tallied four runs in the bottom of the second inning to claim a 4-0 lead.
- The Mariners chalked up three runs in the third to widen the margin to 7-0.
- Mitchell tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth to stretch its advantage to 9-0.
- The Mariners added six runs in the seventh to push their lead to 15-0.
- Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the top of the eighth inning, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 15-2. Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) laced a single to right field to drive in Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) and Nate Duncan (Boston, Mass.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) collected two hits and drove in two RBIs.
- Nate Duncan (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with one stolen base and one run scored.
- Jon Tessier (Coronado, Calif.) tossed 4.1 innings in his 16th career start and finished with one strikeout. Dale Beneway (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) hurled two-thirds of an inning in his team-leading 12th relief outing. David Carey (Greenfield, Mass.) worked 1.1 innings in his ninth appearance out of the bullpen before O'Neil Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) threw 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.
