Baseball Rallies Past Rivier Tuesday, 12-11
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team erased a three-run deficit late in the game to earn a 12-11 victory over Rivier Tuesday.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eastern Nazarene exploded for four runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim a 4-0 advantage. Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) picked up his team-leading eighth RBI of the spring, lacing a double to right-centerfield to drive in Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) all the way from first base. Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) crossed the dish on a double-steal as Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.) swiped second. Jaime Roldan (Boston, Mass.) landed a ground-rule double that bounced over the left-center field wall to plate Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.). Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) raked a one-out base knock to score Jaime Roldan (Boston, Mass.).
- The Lions added a run in the second to stretch their lead to 5-0 as Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) launched his first home run of the year to lead off the frame.
- Rivier got on the board in the top of the fourth, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 5-2.
- Eastern Nazarene generated three runs in the fifth to widen the gap to 8-2. Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) raked a two-out single to left field to plate Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.). Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) slapped a single to left to drive in Ethaniel Almendarez (Lynn, Mass.) before Francis Ferguson (Jefferson, Mass.) stole third and scurried home on a throwing error.
- The Raiders chalked eight runs in the top of the sixth inning to jump ahead 10-8.
- Rivier tacked on a run in the seventh to seize a three-run lead, 11-8.
- The Lions clawed back to score four runs in the home half of the seventh inning to reclaim a one-run edge, 12-11. With two runners in scoring position, Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.) hit a ground-rule double to drive in Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) and Brandon Guerrero (Boston, Mass.). Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) followed with a clutch two-run homer to plate Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.) and give Eastern Nazarene control of the lead.

- Rookie David Carey (Greenville, Mass.) pitched five innings and registered six strikeouts in his first collegiate start on the hill. Dale Beneway (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) tossed 3.1 innings and fanned three batters while picking up his first career win in his team-leading fourth relief outing. Morgan Weast (Cincinnati, Ohio) worked the final two-thirds of an inning, striking out the only two batters he faced en route to earning his second career save.
