Tyler Bean, Morgan Weast Garner NECC Baseball Weekly Accolades
MANSFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team swept the New England Collegiate Conference weekly awards as freshman Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.) earned NECC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors while senior Morgan Weast (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named the NECC Pitcher of the Week, announced the league office Monday.
Bean racked up seven hits, eight RBIs, five runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases as the Lions posted a 3-0-1 record on the week. He notched hits in all four contest this week and collected three extra-base hits, including his first collegiate home run.
This season, Bean has posted 23 hits, 15 RBIs, 13 runs scored, and four stolen bases. He is batting .329 with a .415 on-base percentage.
Weast pitched 11 innings on the week, spanning one start and one relief appearance, while racking up 12 strikeouts. In a complete-game effort against Salem State, the senior southpaw fanned a career-high 11 batters while yielding one earned run.
This spring, Weast has started seven games on the hill and owns a 3-4 record with 43 strikeouts.
Eastern Nazarene owns a 16-13-1 overall record with a 4-3-1 mark in conference play. The Lions return to action April 20 as they visit UMass-Boston.
