Baseball Slugs Past Curry, 7-3
MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team clobbered four home runs to collect a 7-3 win at Curry Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions climb to 15-13 on the season with the victory while the Colonels dip to 8-12 overall.
Tyler Bean (Wellington, Fla.) notched two hits, three RBIs, and one run scored. Frank Landeiro (Orlando, Fla.) posted two base knocks, two runs scored, one RBI, and one stolen base. Shane McNamara (Londonderry, N.H.) and Jaime Roldan (Boston, Mass.) both chipped in with one hit, one RBI, and one run scored.
The guests produced one run in the top of the first to nab a 1-0 edge. Landeiro crushed a solo shot down the left field line for his third home run of the season.
Eastern Nazarene tallied three runs in the third inning to widen the gap to 4-0. Bean belted his first collegiate homer to drive in Brandon Guerrero (Boston, Mass.) and Juan Jacobo Lopez (San Diego, Calif.).
Curry got on the board in the home half of the third to narrow the deficit to 4-1. Brett Heggs tagged up and scampered home from third base on a sacrifice fly by Jason Leonard.
The Colonels pulled to within one, 4-3, with a pair of runs in the fifth frame.
The Lions chalked up one run in the sixth inning to stretch their advantage to 5-3. Landeiro crossed the dish for the second time in the game on an infield hit off the bat of Cam Barry (Manchester, Conn.).
Eastern Nazarene added a two runs in the eighth to regain a four-run advantage, 7-3. McNamara and Roldan launched back-to-back solo homers. McNamara registered his team-leading fifth home run while Roldan notched his first of the season.
Spencer Boynton (Tampa, Fla.) threw six innings and recorded nine strikeouts in his seventh start of the year. Briley Seiter (Bellevue, Ky.) worked three scoreless innings of relief and finished with five strikeouts.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene visits Lesley April 16 for a NECC doubleheader.
