Baseball Receiving Votes in Collegiate Baseball’s 2021 Pre-Season National Poll
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team garnered votes in Collegiate Baseball's 2021 Pre-Season NCAA Division III National Poll for the first time in program history. The publication released its preseason top 40 poll Tuesday, which included 47 teams receiving votes outside of the top 40.
Led by second-year head coach Chris Shank, the Lions will feature a deep and talented roster this spring with a strong foundation of veteran players bolstered by a slew of transfer student-athletes as well as a corps of rookies.
"Our team is looking forward to the opportunity of getting back out on the field and competing this spring. We are confident that with our returning players and extremely talented incoming transfer and freshman class, we will be poised to be a contender not only in the NECC, but on the regional and national stage as well," commented Shank.
Eastern Nazarene posted an 8-3 record before the 2020 campaign was cut short. The Lions claimed wins over Wentworth, Plymouth State, Manhattanville, Hilbert, and Johnson & Wales (R.I.) last spring.
Eastern Nazarene was one of two New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) clubs to appear in Collegiate Baseball's 2021 Pre-Season NCAA Division III National Poll, as defending league champion New England College starts the season ranked No. 37.
