
Baseball Earns 8-4 Come-From-Behind Win over Dean
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College baseball team scored eight unanswered runs and erased a four-run deficit en route to defeating Dean 8-4 Tuesday afternoon at Adams Field.
The Lions improve to 14-10 on the year while the Bulldogs move to 7-16-1 overall.
Dylan Louviaux (Mohnton, Pa.) notched two hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored in the contest. Steven Pesce (Harrison, N.Y.) recorded a pair of base knocks, two RBis, and one run. Zachary Carmody (Babylon, N.Y.) chipped in with two runs scored and one hit.
The visitors erupted for four runs in the top of the first inning to establish a 4-0 lead. Landon Fish, Brian Hadden, and Vincent Buonaiuto all collected RBIs in the frame.
The home side trimmed the deficit in half, 4-2, with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Pesce raked a single to center to drive in Louviaux from second base. Connor Simpson (Haverhill, Mass.) picked up his ninth RBI of the season as he grounded out to score Pesce.
Eastern Nazarene tallied a run in the fourth to pull to within one, 4-3, as Louviaux scampered home from third base on a wild pitch.
The Lions leveled the game at 4-4 with a run in the fifth inning. Zach Zaino (Falmouth, Mass.) scorched a double to left to plate Carmody from first to record his fifth RBI of the spring.
The hosts produced three runs in the seventh to capture a 7-4 advantage. With the bases full, Louviaux roped a double to right field to knock in Joshua Bombard (Rutland, Mass.) and Carmody. Pesce poked a two-out base hit to right to score Louviaux from third base.
Eastern Nazarene tacked on a run in the eighth to widen the gap to 8-4. James Coury (Milford, Conn.) scurried home from second base as he advanced to third on a wild pitch before a throwing error.
Briley Seiter (Bellevue, Ky.) pitched five innings and struck out three in his third start of the spring. Xavier Faria (Assonet, Mass.) threw four innings of relief in his team-leading 11th outing of the season and finished with one strikeout.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene is slated to host Lesley in non-conference action April 13.
