Lane Potter Appointed Assistant Baseball Coach
QUINCY, Mass.- Lane Potter has joined the Eastern Nazarene College baseball coaching staff, as announced by third-year head coach Addison Rouse.
Potter comes to Eastern Nazarene after a two-year stint as volunteer assistant coach at SUNY Oneonta. He served as the infield coach, assistant hitting coach and assistant recruiting coordinator for the Red Dragons.
Potter has also spent the past three years as a head baseball instructor and travel ball coordinator at Triple Crown Baseball Factory based out of Oneonta, N.Y. He has spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the New York Collegiate Baseball League's Oneonta Outlaws. Potter helped guide the Outlaws to the NYCBL Championship Series in 2014.
Potter graduated from Brescia University, Rouse's alma mater, in 2012 with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. He played two seasons for the Bearcats and served as a two-year team captain.
Prior to attending Brescia, Potter spent his first two collegiate seasons at Herkimer County Community College. He played a key role in helping the Generals capture the Mountain Valley Conference Championship and earn a spot to compete in the Region 3 Championships in both years. Herkimer County claimed the Region 3 Championship title in 2010 and advanced to the NJCAA Division 3 National Tournament where the team secured a third-place finish.
"Lane's prior college coaching experience, collegiate summer ball experience and tremendous playing background made him stand out. I can't wait to work with him and to have him around our players on a daily basis," commented Rouse. "We have the Brescia connection and multiple people reached out to me on his behalf. He is a hard-nosed, blue collar guy from upstate New York and he exhibits the exact type of personality that we need in our program. He will play a huge role with recruiting, fundraising, field maintenance and working with our hitters and infielders."
The Lions posted a 15-22 overall record in 2015 and received the Commonwealth Coast Conference Team Sportsmanship Award.
