Rouse Adds Former Standout Anthony Berroa to ENC Baseball Staff
QUINCY, Mass.- Second-year head baseball coach Addison Rouse has announced the addition of former standout Anthony Berroa as a student-assistant coach with the Eastern Nazarene baseball program.
Berroa's primary responsibilities will include working with the Lions' pitching staff while also offering tutelage to the squad's batters.
Berroa wrapped up his playing career with the Lions last spring. He earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team honors as a designated hitter while also pulling in second team accolades as a pitcher in his senior year. As a junior, Berroa received All-CCC honorable mention.
Berroa was tabbed to the NEIBA All-Region second team as a senior and participated in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Joe Walsh All-Star Game in 2014.
"I am extremely excited to bring Anthony on board as an assistant coach. His knowledge will prove to be invaluable with our players and specifically our pitching staff," said Rouse.
Berroa appeared in 105 games in a Lion uniform and accrued 116 base hits, including 27 doubles and 14 triples. He drove in 49 career RBIs while also swiping 28 bags. Berroa boasted a .375 career batting average to go with a .449 on-base percentage.
A dual threat, he also started 20 contests on the mound and added three relief appearances in his career. Berroa collected five wins and one save for Eastern Nazarene while tossing nine complete games. He racked up 119 innings pitched and 92 strikeouts.
