
Baseball Trio Earns All-CCC Honorable Mention
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Anthony Berroa, Ryan Garza and David Manning each received All-Commonwealth Coast Conference honorable mention, as announced by the league office Thursday.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Anthony Berroa (Teaneck, N.J.), Ryan Garza (Elsa, Texas) and David Manning (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) each received All-Commonwealth Coast Conference honorable mention, as announced by the league office Thursday.
Berroa led the Lions with a batting average of .373 on the season while ranking sixth in the conference with a slugging percentage of .536. The junior collected 41 base hits and hammered a league-best five triples. He drove in 17 RBIs on the spring and scored 25 runs while ranking fourth in the league with 16 stolen bases.
Berroa saw action on the mound for Eastern Nazarene this season, starting six games and tossing 29.1 innings. He struck out 34 batters this spring and owned a 1-3 record.
Garza landed a team-high and ranked third in the league with 12 doubles this season. He drove in 17 RBIs and crossed the plate 12 times. He posted 33 base knocks while hitting .306 on the spring.
Manning paced the Lions' offense with 21 RBIs while batting .330 on the year with 31 hits. The junior scored 14 runs and launched one home run on the season. Defensivley, he appeared in 35 contests behind the plate for Eastern Nazarene and led the conference with 12 would-be base-stealers gunned down.
The trio helped the Lions post a 13-23-1 overall record with a 4-12 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference this spring.
