QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene baseball team has secured its first two newcomers for the 2014 season. Head coach B.J. Hampton has announced pitchers Frank Fusco and Nick Penkala will be joining the Lions in the fall of 2013.
Fusco is a left-handed pitcher hailing from Yorktown Heights, N.Y. where he attends Yorktown High School. He also competes for the World Yacht Clippers at the club level.
"I am extremely ambitious to join Eastern Nazarene's family. The way Coach Hampton teaches his team and respects them was the first thing that really stood out to me," said Fusco.
"On the field, Frank is going to solidify our pitching staff as he is an excellent young left-handed arm with a great deal of upside," commented Hampton. "Off the field, Frank is the kind of young man that will represent ENC and our baseball program with pride."
Penkala is a right-handed pitcher from Nashua, N.H. where he attends Nashua High School South. He is a four-year member of the varsity baseball team and a two-year member of the basketball squad. Penkala earned Nashua Telegraph All-Area honorable mention in 2012.
"I am looking forward to pitching in the competitive Commonwealth Coast Conference. ENC's enthusiastic coach staff has me excited about starting my freshman season," stated Penkala.
"Nick is exactly the type of hard working young man that we want to build our program with," added Hampton. "Being a two-sport athlete, the sky is the limit for how far Nick will progress in his time here at ENC."
