Eastern Nazarene Athletics Announces Final Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame Class
QUINCY, Mass. - Eastern Nazarene College Athletics will enshrine 11 individuals and nine teams into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame as the final induction class. The induction ceremony will take place August 11 at 4pm starting in the Lahue Athletic Center before transitioning to the Wollaston Church of the Nazarene. The ENC Athletics Golf Classic will take place August 12 at South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Mass.
Among the individuals being inducted into the Hall of Fame are four student-athletes, two coaches, and four administrators.
Ruth Aguilar (Women's Volleyball) '21, Lauren Clements (Softball) '19, Jaylen Owens (Men's Basketball) '16, Elisabeth Schaffer (Softball) '20, and Henry Siercke (Men's Tennis) '20 are the four former student-athletes that will be inducted into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame.
Cristian Popa (Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach) and Derek Schmitt (Head Men's & Women's Volleyball Coach) are the two former coaches that will be enshrined in the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame. Administrators Anne Cawthorne, Toni Kabilian, Rob Rossi, and Dr. Brad Zarges will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The 1992-93 Men's Basketball team, 1994 Men's Soccer team, 2019 Men's Tennis team, 2019 Softball team, 2019 Women's Tennis team, 2019 Men's Soccer team, 2021 Softball Team, 2022 Women's Volleyball team, and 2023 Women's Volleyball team will all be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Ruth Aguilar played four seasons on the Lions' women's volleyball program from 2018-2021. She was a key contributor to Eastern Nazarene's 2019 and 2021 NECC championship teams, earning NECC Tournament MVP honors both years. A three-time All-NECC first team honoree, Aguilar was named the NECC Player of the Year in 2019 and NECC Rookie of the Year in 2018. As a senior, she earned New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) All-New England honorable mention. She racked up 1,271 career assists to go with 641 kills, 606 digs, and 124 service aces. Aguilar saw action in 78 career matches for the Lions, including a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.

Lauren Clements excelled on the softball diamond for the Lions from 2016-2019, appearing in 160 contests. She concluded her career with a career batting average of .409 with a .690 slugging percentage. Clements notched 198 career hits, including 33 home runs, to go with 152 RBIs and 80 runs scored.
She was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year as a junior and was tabbed the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year the following season. Clements powered the Lions to the program's first-ever NECC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. A two-time all-conference selection, Clements earned NFCA All-New England second team honors as a senior.

Jaylen Owens played four seasons for the Lions' men's basketball team from 2012-16 and concluded his career ranked seventh in program history with 1,742 points. He appeared in 105 career games while notching 485 assists, 331 rebounds, and 212 steals while sporting a career field-goal percentage of 42.1%.
Owens was named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team as a sophomore, junior, and senior while also earning Academic All-CCC honors. In 2013, Owens was tabbed the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year while also collecting All-CCC honorable mention. He helped Eastern Nazarene reach the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament all four years, including a pair of semifinal appearances.

Elisabeth Schaffer pitched for four seasons for the Eastern Nazarene softball team, starring in the circle from 2017-2020. She shattered every single-season and career pitching program record at ENC, having she appeared in 117 career contests and making 74 starts in the pitcher's circle with 18 relief appearances. Schaffer boasted a career record of 58-25 with three saves. She spun 67 career complete games and tossed 525.2 innings in four seasons. In 92 pitching appearances, Schaffer racked up 720 strikeouts while posting a career earned-run average of 1.60.
The Benton, Pennsylvania native was tabbed the 2020 New England Collegiate Conference Female Senior Student-Athlete of the Year. A three-time all-conference performer, she was twice named the conference's Pitcher of the Year and earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region second team honors as a junior and sophomore. As a junior, Schaffer was tabbed to the Fastpitch News All-America and Preseason All-America First Teams.
Schaffer helped lead Eastern Nazarene to the program's first-ever New England Collegiate Conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. She played a vital role in the Lions' championship run, earning NECC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors after pitching complete games in every postseason contest. Schaffer tossed 20.1 innings and registered 12 strikeouts in Eastern Nazarene's three NCAA Tournament games to earn a spot on the Cambridge Regional All-Tournament Team.

Henry Siercke played on the Eastern Nazarene men's tennis team from 2017-2020 and amassed a career record of 99-35 in all matches. He posted a 45-18 record in career singles matches and owned a 54-17 mark in doubles action.
The Hamburg, Germany native was selected as both the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year and collected Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament MVP accolades in 2019 after propelling the Lions to their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship. He also earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference second team honors in 2018 and the 2017 CCC Rookie of the Year award.
A three-time Academic All-Conference selection and ITA Scholar-Athlete, Siercke was named the inaugural recipient of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Man of the Year award in 2019.

Cristian Popa served as Head Men's Tennis Coach for 17 years and Head Women's Tennis Coach for 13 seasons, compiling over 200 career wins. He guided the Lions' men's tennis team to its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship in 2019 en route to the program's NCAA Tournament debut in 2019. Eastern Nazarene went on to defeat Yeshiva in the NCAA Tournament first round, notching the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. An Eastern Nazarene College graduate, Popa also led the ENC women's tennis team to its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference title in the fall of 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 NCAA Tournament was cancelled. During his 17-year tenure, Popa was voted Commonwealth Coast Conference Coach of the Year four times.

Derek Schmitt spent 10 years as Head Women's Volleyball Coach while also serving as Head Men's Volleyball Coach for six years. A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, he guided the Lions to four-straight conference championships as Eastern Nazarene claimed the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title in 2019, 2021, and 2022 before capturing the North Atlantic Conference crown in 2023.
Schmitt posted a 167-90 career record with the Lions' women's volleyball team, including four trips to the NCAA Tournament. He also sported a 69-59 career coaching record with the ENC men's volleyball program. Schmitt was voted the New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year twice and North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year once.
Schmitt served as interim Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach in 2024, leading the Lions' men's tennis team capture its fourth-consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference title and guiding the women's tennis team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024.
In May 2024, Schmitt was promoted to Director of Athletics at Eastern Nazarene.

Anne Cawthorne served Eastern Nazarene College Athletics as the Athletics Specialist from 2015-2024. A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, her father Wayne Hassinger was inducted into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame in 2011.

Toni Kabilian held the position of Head Athletic Trainer at Eastern Nazarene for 16 years and also served as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman's Administrator. An Eastern Nazarene College alumna, Kabilian was a member of the 1999-2000 ENC Women's Basketball team that reached the NCAA Tournament "Sweet Sixteen" and was inducted into the Carroll F. Bradley Hall of Fame in 2012.

Rob Rossi served as Sports Information Director and Assistant Athletic Director at Eastern Nazarene from 2012 until 2024. During that time, he spearheaded the department website's transition to PrestoSports while also launching Eastern Nazarene Athletics' live streaming offerings. A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, Rossi also managed the ENC Athletics social media channels and handled a myriad of other responsibilities.

Dr. Brad Zarges joined the Eastern Nazarene College community in 2015 as the Director of Athletics. During his tenure, ENC completed a move to the New England Collegiate Conference and subsequently joined the North Atlantic Conference prior to the 2023-24 academic year. In Zarges' nine years as Director of Athletics, the Lions captured 14 conference championships and made 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament. In 2021, Zarges oversaw the renovation of the Lahue Athletic Center gymnasium which was highlighted by new bleachers and sound system.

The 1992-93 Men's Basketball team claimed the program's only Commonwealth Coast Conference championship and finished with a 19-7 overall record.

The 1994 Men's Soccer team ended the season with a 15-5-0 overall record. The Crusaders clinched the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference championship, with a double-overtime win over Roger Williams.

The 2019 Men's Tennis team posted a 17-8 overall record and finished the season with an undefeated 5-0 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The top-seeded Lions blanked Ramapo in the GNAC Tournament finals to clinch the school's first conference title since 2000. Eastern Nazarene made its NCAA Tournament debut and defeated Yeshiva in the first round to notch the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win. The Lions earned six All-GNAC accolades while Henry Siercke was named the GNAC Player of the Year and Diego Rodriguez picked up Rookie of the Year honors.

The 2019 Softball team finished with an overall record of 29-15 with a 14-2 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions secured the top seed in the NECC Tournament and topped New England College twice in the championship series to clinch the program's first-ever NECC crown. Eastern Nazarene clobbered New England College 11-2 in five innings in the winner-take-all game as Kiley Ozaki launched her second home run of the game to wrap up the walk-off victory. With the NECC title, the Lions earned their first-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament. Eastern Nazarene chalked up a 7-1 victory over Husson in the NCAA Tournament and suffered a pair of one-run setbacks. Lauren Clements earned NECC Player of the Year honors while Elisabeth Schaffer was tabbed the NECC Pitcher of the Year and head coach Dani Bishop garnered NECC Coach of the Year accolades. The Lions also earned four All-NECC nods and a pair of all-region selections.

The 2019 Women's Tennis team concluded the campaign with a 12-5 overall record and a 6-1 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. The Lions' roster of just six student-athletes claimed the program's first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship with a hard-fought 5-4 victory over top-seeded Johnson & Wales. Eastern Nazarene earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament in the spring of 2020, which was ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After dropping the first match of the season, the Lions rattled off 13-consecutive victories. Eastern Nazarene outscored opponents 11-2 in three New England Collegiate Conference Tournament matches en route to capturing the NECC title and earning the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The Lions garnered seven All-NECC nods while Charlie Swann earned NECC Player of the Year honors and head coach Mark Bell was named the NECC Coach of the Year.

The 2021 Softball Team compiled a 24-7 overall record with a 14-4 record in New England Collegiate Conference play led by interim head coach Lauren Clements. The Lions stormed through the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament with three wins and zero losses to lock up the program's second NECC championship. Eastern Nazarene traveled to Marshall, Texas for its second NCAA Tournament appearance and faced off against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. The Lions collected six All-NECC honors as Jennelle Munoz was selected as the NECC Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Eastern Nazarene also hauled in four all-region accolades.

The 2022 Women's Volleyball Team and the 2023 Women's Volleyball Team combined for a 51-5 overall record, two conference championships, and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances. The 2022 squad posted a 23-2 overall record with a 6-0 mark in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Lions captured their third-consecutive NECC title with a 3-1 victory over New England College at the Lahue Athletic Center. The 2023 team finished with a 28-3 overall record and a 10-0 mark in the North Atlantic Conference West Division. Eastern Nazarene knocked off eight-time defending champions Maine Maritime in reverse-sweep fashion to clinch the North Atlantic Conference crown and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season.
